When I did p90x a few years ago, I changed my lifestyle towards low carb, high protein, lost a ton of weight, and became ripped.

I stayed away from all bad carbs like bread, pasta, sweets, and sugar.  Even fruit was restricted on this lifestyle I created.  I ate a lot of vegetables and all the protein I could get my hands on.  Chicken breasts, vegetables, almonds, eggs, beans, peanut butter, and salads were staples of my lifestyle and still are today several years later.

In fact, since my diet is still centered around these foods, its actually HARD for me to gain weight.  I’ve tried to pack on some extra muscle recently, but since I eat such a paleo diet (check out that link for more info),  with low calories, its actually hard for me to gain weight.
